Privacy

Forged uses self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics to understand how the site is used and which content is useful.

Analytics

This site uses a self-hosted instance of Umami to produce aggregate website analytics.

Umami is used to collect information such as:

• Pages viewed
• Referring websites
• Browser and device type
• Operating system
• Country
• Visit and page-view counts

Umami does not use analytics cookies and does not store visitor IP addresses.

Forged does not use advertising trackers, cross-site behavioural tracking, or persistent visitor identifiers.

Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) browser preferences prevent the analytics script from loading, even if analytics was previously enabled here. Analytics also stays off when browser storage is unavailable.

Only three content interactions are recorded: paper PDF downloads, selected content repository links, and the primary RSS link. Event metadata describes the content, never the reader.

Purpose

Analytics are used to understand readership, content performance, and how people discover the site.

Analytics data is not used for advertising or profiling.

Legal basis

Where the analytics data constitutes personal data, processing is based on legitimate interests in operating, understanding, and improving the site.

The analytics configuration is intentionally limited to reduce the amount of data collected.

Infrastructure

Analytics are hosted on infrastructure controlled by the site owner.

The analytics script and collected analytics data are processed by the self-hosted Umami service at analytics.damienmurphy.net.

Cloudflare is used as part of the site’s network and delivery infrastructure and may process connection data required to deliver requests.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained for a limited period and is not kept indefinitely.

Cookies

Forged does not use cookies for analytics.

Other infrastructure providers may use technologies required for security, network delivery, or essential service operation.
